Looking at those tweets, I just remembered that I rang in the new millennium with my parents and the neighbors because I had just started high school and I didn’t really have friends yet.
Dear ‘oughts,
I WON.

This song, which I just heard for the first time this morning, makes me wish that I was still in high school and had an unrequited crush so that I could put these lyrics in my AIM profile.
On behalf of those of us with unrequited crushes, no you don’t.
Man, I can’t believe I’m getting on-behalf-ofs from an organization I used to preside over.
Top 10 Songs of 2009

I always do two lists, one of songs actually released in 2009 and one of songs from previous years that I heard for the first time in 2009.
Get ready to disagree with all of this.

You know, I realize the aughts or whatevs were pretty awful globally, but speaking about my own personal life, if the teens are half as good (especially as good as 2005-2009), I’ll be really incredibly happy.

Empire State of Mind
Oh.
The lyrics are:
If Jesus playin’ LeBron, I’m playing Dwyane Wade
not
If Jesus playin’ LeBron, I’m playing Dwayne Wayne.
Bummer.

2009 was a a pretty awesome year, in retrospect. I am grateful for having such wonderful friends and getting to do what I love doing every single day. Here is to hoping 2010 can be just as good, if not better.
(Clink)
Agreed, Dave. Roller-coastery but maybe my favorite so far.
Firefly
halphillips:
I’ve never seen the show Firefly. This is ridiculous, as I am a huge Joss Whedon fan. So I’m finally going to watch. And I’m gonna copy Nicole Drespel’s Buffy/Angel blog and post my first impressions as I go along. Unlike Nicole, I will be neither funny nor petulant. I’ll probably just list lines I liked.
And Hal’s blog is already infinitely more coherent than mine.

Tony-winning actress Patti LuPone was interviewed in Time Out New York last year, and informed us she was confused about the changes in Times Sqaure:
TONY: What is the biggest thing that’s happened to the city in the past 13 years?
Patti LuPone: What the hell are they doing to Times Square? This is my question. Is it a theme park? Is it a walking district? Is it a...

I have an inside source that says he heard the rumor that he is a corporate creation and decided to run with it. I’m even more annoyed by him now.
He must be real. I’ve seen him speak several times. HE MUST BE REAL.
You don’t get more real than Andrew. That dude is fucking awesome. And wonderfully sincere and positive.

Starring Melissa Joan Hart and Mario Lopez.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME.
Does anyone remember the Disney TV series Ocean Girl?
I spent way too much of my day researching that show.
I had to do some tumblr unfollowing that kind of broke my heart. I’m temporarily unsubscribing from a few tumblrs that post the kind of pretty pictures which can potentially get me in trouble when I’m scrolling through my dashboard at work. Which I maybe shouldn’t be doing anyway but that’s a whole other can of likes and reblogs. I’ll still be checking those tumbrls...

WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS. Leila is NOT allowed to become a popular name in the non-Arab world! This will do nothing but deeply upset me.
It’s 2019, Leila. After your 2013 successful re-imagining of Facts of Life for the SLTN (Sassy Ladies Television Network) and the astounding box office success of the film trilogy This is About Smith -

I just got through 280 emails at work, the gift that greeted me upon return from my staycation. The office Christmas party is two hours away.
Guess who is not doing anything for the rest of the day?
It’s me.

The next new decade starts in 2011, just as the new century started in 2001. 2010 is the last year of this decade.

It does not matter how many times people explain either concept to me, it will never make sense until someone draws a diagram.
Brooklyn Conclusion
This place is filled with babies.
I get it now.
A book set in a campus radio station at a women’s college where all the DJs are witches…that’s probably going to veer pretty close to chicklit, isn’t it? Miles, can you weigh in as the saddest young literary man I know?
Brooklyn
They are playing Abba. I like Abba but I don’t know if this is being played ironically or not.
Where is the handbook?
PS - Did you know that you can only ask two questions per day on tumblr? Ridic.

I’ll probably never own an Ereader. The books are just as expensive as real books, and you can’t loan them. That’s the killer for me. I do have limited space for books in my place, but the books I do keep, I keep because I want to read them again, and I think they’re worth keeping around to loan people.

Today I die in Brooklyn
Somebody put a bag down on the couch next to me but I didn’t see it happen. But now I’ve seen something so do I say something? Do they have that here? Oh my god.
Brooklyn Part 3
Brooklyn loves Annie Lennox.
If they play Into the West I’ll lose my shit.
Brooklyn Part Two
Am I allowed to watch internet TV here? Or does that use too much internet?
Oh my God. I am giving up and reading a book.
Brooklyn
I am at a coffee shop right now. And a strange man keeps talking to me and instructing me on things. First on where I can charge my computer and then on how my adapter cord is disappointingly not long enough and then there was something about my coat. I don’t even know if I am allowed to be on this couch. I want something to drink but everything is on giant chalkboards I can’t...

Staycation Fail
I think I forgot that the secret purpose of my annual staycation - where I use my vacation time from work to do nothing - is that I discover how much I hate doing nothing and therefore return to my job thankful.
Is it really only 3:30?
Edit to add: Is it bad that I am afraid of the rest of the week?
